Pokémon has made a name for itself over the years. It’s notable for its anime, video games and trading card game. Over the past couple of years, Pokémon TCG grew in popularity due to streamers live streaming pack openings and sharing the rarity of the cards they pulled, leading to an increase of players and card hunters in the TCG. While it is costly to purchase cards, The Pokémon Company has an online simulator where fans can play the card game online. The game was first released back in 2011 as Pokémon Trainer Challenge. This let fans battle it out with cpu and other fans. The game was later remodeled as Pokémon TCG Online. While the TCG is flourishing, fans received news that The Pokémon Company announced that it will be shutting down the game later this spring.

The game is scheduled to receive one last update. While the news of the game’s closure is a shock, The Pokémon Company has assured fans that there will be a new game that will take its place, Pokémon Trading Card Game Live. The developers wanted to ensure the game was more accessible to fans on mobile and IOS. They also wanted to implement new features such as 3D trainer models, rank ladders, battle passes, visual effects and improved card-logic engine. It is because of these reasons that they decided to move forward with a new game.
Since the beta launched while the previous game is still functional, people have the opportunity to migrate their content from Pokémon TCG Online to its successor. This allows players to retain some of the content they have worked to get in the previous game. The sun will set on Pokémon Trading Card Game Online on March 1, 2023.
