The Outer Worlds Possible Release Date Leaked

Eagle-eyed customers noticed a recent (but brief) change to the official Steam page for the upcoming Obsidian RPG The Outer Worlds. If the change is to be believed, Obsidian’s latest project will be releasing on August 6. Announced back at the 2018 Game Awards, The Outer Worlds is a sci-fi RPG from the original creators of Fallout.

Players take the role of a passenger on a spaceship transporting people to the Halcyon colony, a pair of planets located at the edge of the galaxy. Unfortunately, the ship gets lost on its journey, meaning the protagonist is in cryosleep for what would normally be a fatal 70 years. Luckily, a scientist manages to revive you and seeks your help in finding more of your fellow frozen passengers. The main story is a branching one with multiple endings, and one of the first choices you get is to ignore the scientist’s request and turn him into the corporations that run the colony. PC Gamer has good summary of what’s known so far.

In a story first reported by Dark Side of Gaming, an update to the game’s Steam page said that the release date will be August 6, along with other details like language support. Since then, the Steam page has been updated again and the release date now reads 2019. However, the SteamDB website has both changes saved for posterity. While there’s always the chance that won’t be the official release date, it’s not an implausible one. Obsidian previously reported that their game should take anywhere from 15 to 40 hours to complete, making it a good deal leaner than your average open world game. Obsidian has yet to comment on an official release date.

The Outer Worlds does not have an official release date, but it could possibly release on August 6 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
