The next chapter in The Elder Scrolls Online has been revealed after much teasing from the developers. The next installment has been named Elsweyr, which will be a part of the Season of the Dragon year-long event. Players’ soulless heroes will be introduced to new environments, characters, and an additional class on its way.
Zenimax Online has built up the suspense in Elsweyr with a seconds-long teaser video that eventually turned out to be a part of a larger trailer. The cinematic trailer was released on Tuesday and its cryptic story will continue, but this time…dragons will come to Tamriel. Unfamiliar to the continent except for in the timeline of Skyrim, this will be the only other time dragons have entered the scene. The Elder Scrolls Online takes place roughly one thousand years before the events of Skyrim, so players will be able to live out some of the legends that they only previously read or heard about and take part in Dragon Attack world events. Check out the trailer below:
Elsweyr will focus its story in the “sun-blessed savannah and canyons” of an expanded portion of the Khajiiti homeland that players have already been introduced to. The Season of the Dragon not only contains the Elsweyr chapter, but also the Wrathstone DLC dungeon pack and two other DLCs. Both of these have not yet been announced, but one is another dungeon pack and the other will be a story zone, perhaps similar in size to Murkmire. The story DLCs will of course include more unique delves, public dungeons, and quests.
The other huge announcement of Elsweyr is the new class: the Necromancer. This wielder of dark magic will command the undead and use corpses to overwhelm enemies. Necromancers will have to be constantly mindful of their positioning to be at their most effective with their three skill lines. Reaper skills will allow you to raise the dead and imbue them with the elements of the world while Bone Tyrant skills let conjurers use the remains around to extend one’s life and create barriers. Finally, Living Death skills use life and death to allow for the immediate resurrection of allies.
Unsurprisingly, there is a lot of content coming to The Elder Scrolls Online this year. Elsweyr comes to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Mac June 4 while PC and Mac owners will have early access starting May 20.
