New Fighting Game Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid Coming This April

A new fighting game set in the highly popular, long-running Power Ranger franchise has been announced. Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is set to be a “modern take” on the series’ illustrious 25 year history. Players will be able to fight with new and classic Power Rangers against each other and villains from the series in team based battles. Touted as “easy to learn but hard to master,” the game will feature a streamlined combat system that is set to appeal to newcomers and hardcore players alike.

This new fighting game is being made by nWay, the developers behind the mobile Power Rangers fighting game Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, in conjunction with Hasbro and Lionsgate Games. Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid will release via digital download on all systems for $19.99 USD. There will also be a Collector’s Edition of the game for $39.99 USD that includes the game, extra character skins, a digital art book, and the Season One Pass. Preordering either edition of the game will net players the Green Ranger V2 skin to use in the game.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is also set to feature cross-play and cross-progression across Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. It is currently unknown if the game will eventually enter the PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program to receive full cross-platform support on the console like Fortnite and Rocket League.

Characters confirmed for the game so far include Mighty Morphin Power Rangers‘ original Red Ranger Jason Lee Scott and Green Ranger Tommy Oliver, Power Rangers Super Mega Force‘s Yellow Ranger Gia Moran, and Lord Drakkon, an evil Tommy Oliver from an alternate reality, from the franchise’s comic series.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is set for release this April on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One with a PC release coming later this year. You can check out the full Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid announcement trailer below:
