Last year during Dragon Age Day, BioWare’s celebration of the franchise, they shared that the full reveal was set for Summer 2024. Today, BioWare has set the day for the reveal. The gameplay reveal for the Dragon Age: The Vielguard (formerly subtitled Dreadwolf) is set for Tuesday, June 11, at 8:00 am PT with over 15 minutes of gameplay from the opening moments of the game that will put players back into the world of Thedas on a new adventure.
According to Executive Producer, Dragon Age, and General Manager, BioWare Gary McKay, The Veilguard has gone through different iterations since the launch of the last game, Dragon Age: Inquisition. The developers explored, tested, and validated a variety of gameplay concepts, including a multiplayer concept. Eventually, BioWare refocused on bringing it back to what the studio does best, a single-player game, with all of the choices, characters, and world building you’d expect.
” At BioWare, we create worlds of adventure, conflict and companionship, where you’re at the center of it all,” McKay said. “As fans of our franchise know, every Dragon Age game has delivered a new standalone story. Set in the world of Thedas, these tales explore epic locales and threats, always thrusting you into a new conflict. Each game also introduces a new lead hero – The Warden, Hawke, The Inquisitor – that you can call your own. You can expect all that, and more, with the new game. And of course, much like your unique hero, it wouldn’t be a Dragon Age game without an amazing cast of companions – right?”
Dragon Age: The Veilguard will feature seven unique characters that will make up the companions that players will meet. In true BioWare fashion, each companion will have deep, compelling storylines where the decisions the player makes will impact their relationships with them as well as their lives. “Naturally, the Dread Wolf still has an important part in this tale, but you and your companions – not your enemies – are the heart of this new experience,” McKay said.
That’s where the name change came in. McKay said “So, to capture what this game is all about, we changed the name as the original title didn’t show just how strongly we feel about our new heroes, their stories and how you’ll need to bring them together to save all of Thedas. We proudly introduce to you Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
