WhisperGames announced today that The Nameless: Slay Dragon will arrive on Nintendo Switch on August 28, bringing the celebrated RPG to a new audience after its successful PC debut last year. Developed by Nameless Sword Studio, a one-man team supported by a few online collaborators, the game took over three years to create. Following a growing call from both the community and Switch players, the upcoming release promises the same visually rich and strategic experience with added portability, according to a press release.

The Nameless: Slay Dragon combines turn-based strategy, storybook presentation and action RPG elements. Priced at $17.99 in the U.S., £15.79 in the U.K. and €17.99 in Europe, it includes all previously released content along with the Mythic Epic DLC update. Players can expect party-based turn-based combat with diverse characters, grid-based dungeon exploration and an immersive story where every decision carries weight.

Almost every item or material collected during an adventure can be used for alchemy, cooking or forging. Rather than relying on preset recipes, the crafting system encourages players to experiment freely with materials based on their characteristics to discover new combinations. The game’s strategic combat demands thoughtful planning and synergy between party members, a throwback to traditional RPGs where tactics matter more than button mashing.

Inspired by classics like Shining in the Darkness and Arcana while drawing from narrative-driven titles like Breath of Fire, The Nameless: Slay Dragon blends nostalgic charm with modern twists. Its pixel art style evokes retro dungeon crawlers, yet the gameplay adds contemporary design sensibilities for deeper character progression and choice-driven storytelling. Multiple endings and interactive environments offer replayability and discovery beyond the main plot.

WhisperGames, founded in 2015 and based in Xiamen, China, is handling publishing and localization. Known for its work on over 150 titles in more than 20 countries, the company provides everything from marketing and PR to voice-over and community support. Nameless Sword Studio may be small, but its passion for RPGs has already resonated with fans around the world.

The Nameless: Slay Dragon will be available digitally on Nintendo Switch on August 28. With its mix of exploration, combat and meaningful decision-making, it is shaping up to be a must-play for fans of the genre and newcomers alike.
