Oh wow, who could that be under that mask? SNK’s iconic character Mr. Karate returns, but this time there’s a new man under the mask instead of old Art of Fighting karate master Takuma Sakazaki. Mr. Karate is going to be the latest addition to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and he’ll be out very soon on May 27th, 2026!
You’ve got a lot of the Mr. Karate classics that are associated with the character as well as the character’s fighting style, such as the Hien Shippuu Kyaku double kicks, the Ko-Ou Ken fireball, and the Kohou uppercut. There’s a theory going around right now that because Art of Fighting staple Robert Garcia also has long hair and wears a suit, and because we see a couple of Robert’s moves in this iteration of Mr. Karate such as his quick kicks, this Mr. Karate is actually Robert Garcia using his own versions of the double kicks, fireball, and uppercut. Of course, these theories are mostly unfounded and don’t really have any basis besides speculation.
As stated, Mr. Karate’s secret identity is a mystery, and one people will be speculating about for a while to come. It could be Takuma taking up his old mask again, but Takuma tends to be much stockier. Ryo Sakazaki is a prime candidate, he’s been Mr. Karate before, but Ryo is rumored to be his own DLC character for City of the Wolves alongside his sister Yuri so that de-confirms either of them. They could throw a ball out of left field and say that it’s Art of Fighting’s King under the mask, that would explain the nice suit and kicks, and it would be daring to have a female Mr. Karate. I believe Chang from King of Fighters is also a legitimate candidate.
Well, regardless of who the man under the mask is, it’s great to see characters constantly coming out for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, there is a steady stream of content and DLC and balance for the game, a game that’s really settled in nicely in its own little niche of the fighting game community and I’m looking forward to more.
