The Mind-Bending VR Game ‘A Fisherman’s Tale’ Released

In November of 2018, developer Interspace VR released a gameplay video of their up and coming mind-bending puzzle game, A Fisherman’s Tale. It was described as have multi-level puzzles that feels akin to a matryoshka doll. The gameplay announcement trailer shows off exactly what is being described:

A Fisherman’s Tale was then set to come out sometime in January. With no actual date for the release, those who followed the game waited in silence. Then on the drop of a hat, Interspace VR released a live action launch trailer the day the game came out:

Players take on the role of Bob, a simple fisherman who lives in the base of his lighthouse. However, he wakes up one morning realizing that something feels off, and eventually discovers that he’s actually just a puppet. And there’s more than one of him. Also, his model lighthouse is a lighthouse, with a lighthouse inside that model lighthouse, and it keeps going.

But trouble starts when a storm begins to brew and Bob needs to turn the lighthouse on. Except, everything is either big or small, and decisions need to be made to go up three model lighthouses or down two model lighthouses. It’s easy to lose track of which lighthouse and which Bob.

Along the way of trying to reach the very top of the lighthouse (…or lighthouses, technically), Bob encounters an interesting crew of characters, including his own decor that comes to life. They help you out each level so that Bob gets just a little bit closer to the top, except it may not be what he expects when he gets there.

Whether it’s another Bob or another lighthouse, this physics-breaking game is sure to bring many questions. And the only way to answer them is by going up. A Fisherman’s Tale comes out today on PC for VR only on Steam.
