The Lords of the Fallen Announced at Opening Night Live as Remake of 2014 Hit Game

At Gamescom Opening Night Live, CI Games announced that they are currently developing a reboot of the 2014 game Lords of the Fallen. The reboot will be called The Lords of the Fallen and is expected to be pretty different from the previous game. The new game is being developed by Hexworks, a CI Games Studio, and is going to be powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The new game will be similar to the 2014 version in that they are both dark-fantasy action RPGs. The Lords of the Fallen will take place over one thousand years after the events from the first game. The reboot will also include a massive interconnected world that is over five times larger than the 2014 game. The experience is described as “expansive” and will include NPC quests, compelling characters, and a rich narrative.

The game will feature both single-player campaigns and multiplayer modes where players can experience “devastating magic” and an “expansive RPG experience.” Prior to beginning the single-player campaign, players will create their own hero that they will use throughout the campaign. Additionally, the uninterrupted online co-op will be included in the game, which is a first for the franchise.

When discussing the upcoming game, Creative Director Cezar Virtosu said “The game is significantly larger, with a vast, interconnected dual world split between the realms of the living and dead, that players can explore alone or with friends. It’s darker and more challenging, with faster soulslike combat, stronger thematic, richer narrative, deeper RPG systems, and more immersive storytelling.” The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and there will be another gameplay trailer expected to release later this year.
