We’ve been on the receiving end of quite a few updates to Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 in the world of video games these past few days, and one of the more exciting trailers is almost certainly the Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 Allegiances Unknown trailer:
Mechanicus was originally released in 2018 on Steam, and for a little while it went under the radar. However, with some help from a dedicated YouTube playerbase Mechanicus carved out its own little niche as a darling underdog in the Warhammer 40,000 video game world. Due in no small part to its subject matter, the titular Mechanicus. Warhammer players do tend to get a bit bored of space marines all day every day, and the change from Marine Chapters to the mechanized members of the Adeptus Mechanicus was a welcome change of pace.
Well, it looks like Bulwark Studios have decided to double down on that strength, as the Mechanicus are again playable in the sequel alongside the xeno alien terminators the Necrons. Yes, Necron fans (including yours truly) will certainly eat well on the release of Mechanicus 2, however I don’t think anyone expected the Votann to show up in the trailer.
The Leagues of Votann are a recent addition to the 40k franchise and tend to be forgotten. But still, they have their fans and they are space dwarves, so it’s good to see that they’ll be making their first video game appearance in Mechanicus 2, they don’t have quite enough metal on them to match the Mechanicus or the Necrons but I’m sure they’ll fit in just fine.
Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 will release for Playstation5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store and you can wishlist it now if the idea of replacing your flesh with unfeeling cold metal appeals to you.
