The Last Of Us Part II Becomes The Fastest Selling PlayStation Exclusive Title Selling More Than 4 Million Copies

Everyone’s new favorite post-apocalyptic zombie thriller action-adventure game, The Last Of Us Part II has broken new records today. According to PlayStation.Blog, as of June 21st, the game has sold more than 4 million copies, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive game. The game had already become the fastest-selling game in the United Kingdom, but now it has transcended that.

The Vice-President of Naughty Dog and the Director of The Last Of Us Part II, Neil Druckmann released a statement regarding the incredible amount of copies being sold in such a short amount of time, thanking all the fans and players who have enjoyed the wondrous, terrifying, and beautiful world of The Last Of Us. “We are so immensely grateful to the millions of fans around the world that have played The Last of Us Part II and shared their experiences with us over the last week. We set out to tell a new kind of story, one that deals with difficult themes and would challenge you in unexpected ways. Hearing how the experience has resonated with so many of you and witnessing the type of thoughtful discussions it has sparked has been so incredible. We’ve also been so inspired by your creativity — whether it’s your gorgeous Photo Mode shots, jaw-dropping gameplay GIFs, or the songs you’ve recorded using Ellie’s guitar.”

While the game had been delayed from its initial release date of February 21st, 2020 for quality assurance, and then its second release date of May 29th, 2020 got pushed back to mid-June because of COVID-19, based on the number of copies it has sold, the game has clearly been worth the long wait, as 4 million fans are now able to continue the story that began back in 2013 in the amazing and frightening world of The Last Of Us Part II.
