The Last Hope- Dead Zone Survival Removed From Nintendo eShop Following Sony Copyright Claim

The Last Hope—Dead Zone Survival has been removed from Nintendo’s Switch eShop, after it made waves online for being a clear, and poorly made ripoff of The Last of Us. In fact, the ripoff was so noticeable that the cover art was nearly identical to 2013’s iconic The Last of Us box art cover. The side character Eve is also a clear copycat of Ellie from The Last of Us, with her brown haircut, red shirt, blue jeans, and Converse.

The Last Hope released back in early July of this year, where players were quick to notice the copycat ripoff being sold as a mere cash grab. The copycat was so apparent that some reviewers jumped at the chance to make reviews of just how terrible the game was. From the shoddy graphics, buggy gameplay, and Ellie’s copycat character being named either Eve or Eva in certain text, it was clearly made without any attempt but to work as a cash grab.

The blatant ripoff spread wide enough that today, The Last Hope—Dead Zone Survival is now removed entirely from the Switch eShop. Sony issued a copyright claim, spurring Nintendo to remove the cheap game from their eShop. Moreover, official trailers uploaded are now completely removed, only stating they’ve been taken down due to copyright claims from Sony.

It’s unclear if The Last Hope— Dead Zone Survival will seek to have the game put back on the eShop or any other gaming storefronts, though in doing so, they’d clearly have to remove all the references that were clear copyright infringed from The Last of Us, along with polishing up nearly the entire game itself.
