Later this year, the IGDA and Plan C Ventures will be hosting its annual Game Leadership Summit once more, and the event will be held in Austin, Texas. In order to continue furthering the organization’s objective of providing game developers with fulfilling and sustainable careers, the IGDA event will feature two Game Leadership Summits: the Management Excellence track and the Professional Leadership track.
The Management Excellence track will help managers, executives, business owners and entrepreneurs learn skills that are essential for running a smart, effective game business. These skills will scale with studios of only a handful to a studio with over a thousand members. Topics, such as Building Sustainable Teams, What to Consider Before Starting a Studio, and Building Strong Partnerships, will help future management from planning ahead to success to navigating risks and positioning for potential growth.
The Professional Leadership track will help all video game professionals across many different disciplines who want to better manage their careers. Topics include What I’ve Learned in 25 Years in Game Development, Negotiating Fundamentals, and Adapting to Change in an Industry Driven by Change. These summits, and many more, will help developers improve their decision making, planning, and problem solving at all stages of their careers as well as help better manage their future career.
Early bird registration is currently underway for IGDA Game Leadership Summit 2018 with pass costing $125 for IGDA member and $200 for non-members. This early bird offer will run up until July 13, and afterwards, the prices will increase in increments up until the event date. At that point, passes will cost $275 for IGDA members and $350 for non-members. With a pass, however, event-goers will gain access to both days of the event and even gain access to evening networking events. Also, the IGDA is currently looking for speakers to attend both of their summits. The first application process for potential speakers is currently ongoing, but will reach its first deadline on April 30.
The IGDA Game Leadership Summit will take place September 13 to September 14.
