The Heavily Influenced ‘Light of Motiram’ Announced for PlayStation 5 , PC, iOS, and Android

Developer Polaris Quest, a subsidiary of Tencent Games and partner developer Aurora Game Studio announced Light of Motiram on Nov 28 2024. The game is set for release on the PlayStation 5, PC, Android, and iOS devices. One thing that Gematsu notes is that Motiram bears a strong resemblance to Sony’s Horizon Franchise.

Tencent Shared an update over their social media accounts, that a beta would be placed on mobile devices and that a future collaboration with PlayStation will take place according to Eurogamer.

Not unlike the Horizon franchise the world in Light of Moritam is overrun by a colossal mechanized beast. The setting of the game is an ‘untamed wilderness’ where you’ll play cooperatively with ten other players. Together you’ll hunt the beast and gather resources for building projects. At least 100 ‘Mechanimals’ or beast partners can be tamed and trained by you to work in production or as a battle partner. A notable feature is the physics based building system, structure durability will be tested against environmental conditions. Wcctech indicates that cross-play will be present across platforms as well.

Light of Motiram is receiving other comparisons, aside from fans on X and Steam expressing dismay; One comparison being Palworld, given that the game’s base building and survival mechanics being similar according to IGNSports illustrated pointed out that despite causing some controversy between it’s console brethren Horizon Sony has happily promoted the game on their Social Media accounts. On top of that Tencent and Polaris Quest released a reveal trailer video and sixteen minute gameplay video.

While Light of Motiram does not have a release date, the game is  causing a stir because of it’s strong resemblance to major titles released in the past few years. Hopefully for its release, the game will be able to set itself apart from its aesthetic roots.
