A new trailer for FINAL FANTASY XVI was released during The Game Awards 2022. The trailer featured a new look at more gameplay and at the story of the game. Alongside the trailer, a release date was revealed. FINAL FANTASY XVI releases on June 22, 2023, on PlayStation 5.
The trailer focuses on main character Clive Rosfield and his journey of revenge and features plenty of new gameplay with its new action combat system and a small glimpse at the variety of locations that Clive will travel throughout the course of the story. The trailer also showcased more footage of the massive summon battles.
FINAL FANTASY XVI brings players into the realm of Valisthea, where Eikons are powerful and deadly creatures that reside within Dominants— single men or women who are blessed with the ability to call upon their dreaded power. The story follows Clive Rosfield, a young man dedicated to mastering the blade, who is dubbed the First Shield of Rosaria and tasked to guard his younger brother Joshua—the Dominant of the Phoenix. Unexpected events set Clive on a dark and dangerous road to revenge.
