The Final Cut of Lilith Cunningham Announced for 2027 Game Release

It’s a new month, and with it comes new game announcements. One example is The Final Cut of Lilith Cunningham by Causeway Studios, who dropped the announcement Trailer for their upcoming game on Monday, with the announcement saying the game’s going to join Steam in 2027. With so much time ahead, the release date isn’t out yet, but parts of the game have been explored in the Trailer. The announcement Trailer focuses on, to no one’s surprise, Lilith Cunningham, as it showcases a unique blend between film, horror and investigation, while telling the story of Lilith and what seems to be her quest to find her missing daughter.

The Trailer starts poetically with a film camera, it plays a realistic film of a woman in a car, while Lilith’s daughter speaks in a recording sent to her mother. The trailer then shows the game itself, starting with a “hotel” where Lilith’s daughter “Sara” according to a note in the trailer stayed, it’s a brick and wood hotel, with lots of movie posters across the walls with famous old films like Dracula and The Lady who Dared. In one of the rooms there’s a bed looking out towards a giant billboard, and an unopened suitcase on the bed. In the film, the lady in the car keeps listening, then the trailer reverts to the game material, showing hotel restaurant seats also looking out at the same giant billboard as the hotel room before.

The screen glitches and letters appear then Sara states “Something’s wrong.” Back in the hotel room, there are boxes, a camera, a duffel and a light in the room. More of the hotel is shown, including a monitor showing “City of Dreams,” then more of the film, as Sara states “something is hunting me.” Before the trailer warps a bit while showing a suddenly long hallway. The trailer moves back to the film, now playing on the billboard, as the woman looks back in her car and enters a building.

The trailer introduces an evidence board with notes that the player can add to it as they investigate, the player can also pick up items like a comic book on Strange Tales, and other stuff. The player adds another note to the board (now with attached lines joining some notes) , takes keys and opens the film reel of the previously shown City of Dreams. The trailer shows more of the hotel with the end of a hallway turning red before switching to the film. More eerie things start to occur in the hotel with lights going off in the halfway and the juxtaposition between the game and film occur more frequently before the trailer leads to a “LIFE VIEW FILM EDITOR” before it ends. With such a tease of an announcement trailer, many questions can be asked, such as what’s the film editor for and who’s haunting the hotel? Some can be answered in the game’s Steam page here, others will be answered presumably with upcoming trailers and the game itself.
