PlayStation’s State of Play: Japan, a reveal trailer for Uncanyon was highlighted puzzle-adventure game made by the same developers behind Maquette, Annapurna Interactive. Their latest project is set in a forgotten world that exists within the seam between unparallel realities. Players find themselves in a fantastical environment, exploring the world as Sonia, a young woman that has found herself destined to save this intersecting world from the unraveling.
Sonia possess a unique ability that enables her to change the environment, shifting between realms. Her ability works through the fragmenstone devices, which enables her to mold the world to her will. Through her power, players will be able to reshape the puzzle around them, unveil hidden paths, and avoid dangers.
As they explore the Uncanyon, players will travel across overgrown ruins and crumbling temples filled with puzzles. Each one solved uncovers more truths to this mysterious world, leading players to records, ancient equipment, and unique devices. These areas also contain traps designed to keep people out to protect the secrets and treasures inside.
The reveal trailer contains glimpses into the land and the animation style to Sonia’s land-morphing abilities. The changes happen seamlessly, creating bridges and platforms for players to use to progress further into the Uncanyon. The trailer also displays the fragmenstone devices at work, teasing that some devices may require players to figure out how to reach them.
Uncanyon contains five bio-diverse, semi-open regions for players to explore. Each region has riddles and secret challenges for players to uncover should they have a sharp enough eye. Though as they progress through the main story, players will witness the weight of being a hero take effect on Sonia.
