The Festival of Lights Celebration is This Week on Pokémon GO!

Pokémon GO is having its Festival of Lights this week! The celebrations are already underway but don’t worry. They will not end until November 14th, so there is still plenty of time for you to check out everything this festival has to offer. The exclusive antenna Pokémon, Dedenne, is making its debut on Pokémon GO this week. If you succeed in finding this adorable little Electric and Fairy-type Pokémon it will no doubt become the most adorable addition to your Pokédex. To promote the positivity, friendship levels will increase twice as fast and gifts will offer double the amount of rewards. Niantic is being very generous to its players offering up to 45 gifts per day.

During the Festival of Lights, certain Pokémon will be wandering around more frequently. You will surely find Pikachu, Magnemite, Slugma, Wismur, Electrike and many others much easier to find. Upon the completion of field research tasks, there will be new Pokémon available to find including Vulpix, Electabuzz, Magmar and others. There will also be new Festival of Lights items for your avatar available as well as Dedenne stickers and apparel. For a more detailed account of everything this festival has to offer, check out the Pokémon GO blog post where the Festival of Lights was first announced.

Pokémon GO’s Festival of Lights is inspired by the Diwali Festival of Lights that takes place between mid-October and mid-November. It is widely celebrated all over the world but has its biggest celebration in India by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and some Buddhists as well. This festival promotes prosperity and acts as a symbol of the triumph of light over darkness. Because this festival is most popular in India, Dedenne and Blitzie will be appearing even more frequently for players in India, and there will be twice as much catch candy. So what are you waiting for? Get going before the festival is over!
