The Division 2’s Launch Update Is Massive

Ubisoft’s highly anticipated title The Division 2 is little under a week away from release. With it being so close to the game hitting the shelves, the developer has officially released the patch notes for the sequel’s launch day update, and it looks like it’s going to be a big one. The notes states the the update’s size will vary depending on which platform, region, and also preferred language.

For Xbox and PC the update can take up as much as 52 GB. As big as that sounds, it pales in comparison against the PlayStation 4 patch which will be between 88 and 92 GB. So it’s safe to say that players shouldn’t expect to pop the game in and immediately start playing. As for what the update will contain, the official site just states that it will fix “various bug fixes and improvements for the main game.”

In addition to this, Ubisoft will also be sending out an update which will thankfully be a lot smaller than the Day 1 patches for the game. The 1.5 update reportedly  “addresses occurrences of audio missing or cutting out experienced by some during Open Beta.”

In other news Ubisoft is also releasing the game early depending on what where players are and what edition they preordered. For example, those who pre-ordered the Gold or Ultimate Editions will get to play the game March 12. As far as post launch content, Ubisoft is reportedly going to support the game with free content just as they did in the original title.

There will also be three new episodes all slated to come out later this year. The Year One pad for the game will give players early access to these episodes and also grant players some exclusive perks. The Division 2 will officially launches everywhere on March 15 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
