The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics A Surprise Reveal At Nintendo E3 Conference

Throughout a plethora of huge announcements during Nintendo’s E3 conference today, they revealed a game that no one was really expecting or asked for. Regardless, fans were excited to learn about The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics. Players will be able to play in the world of Dark Crystal after maybe having just finished watching the show and it should bring some great new stories and turn-by-turn adventures. Check out the reveal below:

Based on the series by and in association with Netflix, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. The television series serves as a prequel to the original movie, while The Dark Crystal computer game was released all the way back in 1983. With complex and interesting lore and timelines, The Dark Crystal offered players and eventually Netflix a unique fantasy world created by Jim Henson. Before returning and curious Netflix bingers even had a chance to watch the show, Nintendo announced the new Tactics title since the show doesn’t even air until August of this year.

Age of Resistance Tactics will have obvious differences from the 1983 game and enhancements because of today’s gaming technology. But other differences have to do with the gameplay itself, introducing more secrets, narrative, and interactions available and as seen in the trailer. While it will be based on the show airing in August, it doesn’t seem like the developers are restricting players to that story. The tactical strategy game will give them the opportunity “to experience the fantasy world of Thra by playing through – and going beyond – the events of the series.” That means that players will come across things that the previous game and television series will not such as storylines, unfamiliar places and environments, and other playable characters.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is for a 2019 Q4 release on the Nintendo Switch.
