Moscow-based indie developer yeo has announced The Concrete Sutra #1, a pixelated post-apocalyptic action RPG with beat ’em up combat, for PC via Steam. It is the first episode of a series and is currently set to launch in March 2027. An announcement trailer was released today. yeo is both the developer and publisher.
This announcement has been a long time in the making. yeo, the developer behind The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa, Arrest of a Stone Buddha, and Fading Afternoon, has revealed on the studio’s team page that work on The Concrete Sutra as a JRPG concept began during development of Arrest of a Stone Buddha and was put on hold while that game was finished. The project predates Fading Afternoon entirely. Before the game ever entered production, a manga adaptation was produced with story by yeo, art by longtime collaborator Ueda M., and English translation by Marie Stratan.
The story follows River, the closest friend of a biker gang’s vanished leader, who drifts away from the group after it dissolves. Five years later, River comes across Cosmo, the missing leader, somewhere at the margins of a collapsed world. Cosmo appears largely unchanged, but something is off, and River stays close to find out what he has gotten himself into. The game’s official description places the two on a motorbike, making their way home through the ruins.
Gameplay runs between one and a half to two hours, with beat ’em up type combat. There’s no grinding or skill trees, only weapons and items paired with exploration. The game offers two characters to use. The main story is supplemented with side-quests, and the available modes include Story and Arcade, among others. The Steam mature content description notes the game involves alcohol abuse, smoking, violent combat, and pills consumed to cast magic.
The Concrete Sutra #1 is available to wishlist now on Steam ahead of its March 2027 release.
