The Blackout Club Introduces a New Asymmetrical PVP Mode with “The Stalker”

Back in August, developers Question put out a gameplay trailer for their up and coming horror title The Blackout Club. In the seven minute trailer, the developers show off the basis of their game, about how each of the kids of Hoadly have different roles, and how teamwork and sticking together are important parts of the story. That is, if they want to figure out what happened to their hometown.

Around the 2:40 mark of the trailer, the developer begins to talk about a feature known as “The Stalker”, more specifically about how that role is a traitorous kid that draws their version of the Boogyman, the Shape, to the exact location of the players. The developer also mentions how he didn’t want the video showcasing this particular feature, mainly because it was still in development.

Those with Early Access to the game might have noticed that on occasion a Stalker would show up in their games, even though the ability to play as one was currently unavailable. But, showcased in a recent update, the role of The Stalker has now been released into the early access game.

As The Stalker, players take on the role of a traitorous kid, who goes to record all the ‘wrong-doings’ of the member of the Blackout Club. Each time a recording is made, it notifies the surrounding AI to go after the kids, and eventually summons out The Shape. The only way to win as The Stalker, is to get all members of the Blackout Club to be put to sleep by The Shape.

In this update journal over on the game’s Steam page, the developers go more into how The Stalker works, as well as how The Stalker can get into games, and what that means when hosting a multiplayer game. And yes, developer David Pittman does confirm that any Stalker prior to this point has been a dev in disguise.

The Blackout Club is still open for Early Access, with no set date in mind. But with The Stalker being added, the game has become a little harder, for both the club members, and the new role.
