Microsoft has done a lot of talking about the next generation of gaming with Xbox Series X. Earlier this year, they shared what their plan and focus is going into the new decade with next-gen and they have also shared the technical aspects of Xbox Series X. Recently, they revealed the first footage of Xbox Series X gameplay from some of their third-party partners and announced an initiative to keep the news coming leading up to the launch of the new console. In contrast, Sony hasn’t talked a lot about PlayStation 5. They shared some details about how their new controller, DualSense works, there have been numerous patents that have provided hint at what the console can do, and Mark Cerny gave a “Deep Dive” into the technical aspects and overall goals and objectives for the PlayStation 5. But they haven’t really gotten into what everybody will be playing. That may change soon as Kenichrio Yoshida, Sony CEO said that the company will be revealing a lineup of PS5 games soon during the latest Sony Corporate Strategy Meeting.
One reason that Sony has been so silent about the PlayStation 5 could be that they still have two big PlayStation 4 games that are set to be released in the next two months. After a couple of delays, The Last of Us Part II will be released in one month on June 19, with Ghost of Tsushima following the next month on July 17.
As for when the PlayStation 5 reveal will be taking place, there has been a rumor that suggests that there will be several events happening in the next few months. The first event will take place in June where Sony will be revealing a look at what people can expect to play when PlayStation 5 launches later this year. Another event will be a new State of Play that is happening in August.
Nothing official has been announced but with Yoshida’s comments about PlayStation 5 games, it seems that Sony is ready to reveal the PlayStation 5 officially.
