The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrow’s Deep Director’s Cut is Arriving in June 2019

The Bard’s Tale IV had an announcement back in late December that it would be getting an early 2019 massive patch that would bring it into 2.0. It would bring forth a new dungeon, new faces, new models, and a whole plethora of other goodies that would be introduced and added, along with a number of bug fixes that would make this classic RPG even better. However, that was the last we heard from them.

So this huge 2.0 patch has been in the back of players’s minds, an ever looming invitation to a bigger and bardier tale. But the 2.0 patch still hasn’t come yet because it just kept growing. Developer Paul Marzagalli wrote in a new patch notes page that the 2.0 patch was going to need a lot more space and a lot more work. So instead of just a patch, the entire update would bring forth The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrow’s Deep Director’s Cut.

This was decided because Marzagalli said, in the most recent update post, that they wanted the next patch to have a more formal title than just 2.0. And it’s warranted for how much is actually being added to the game. It’s a lot more than just a free dungeon and some new models and what had been mentioned before.

There will be a new dungeon and storyline that features new enemy types, new character portraits,  a new Song of Exploration that allows players to skip over puzzles if either they’re having difficulty with it or it’s just not their cup of tea, a new intro animation, inventory filtering, game balancing across the board, numerous bug fixes, a new main menu, and a lot more. The entire list is on the blog post and consists of more than anyone was expecting.

This new update will be coming out some time in June 2019. For more information, check out that aforementioned blog post, or check out InXile Entertaiment’s Twitter account.
