On April 10th, 11 Bit Studios released an official release date trailer for their upcoming game The Alters, a single-player, sci-fi, survival action-adventure game. The game is set to release on June 13th of this year on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox X/S. Players can also still download and try out the demo through Steam.

The trailer shows some of the gameplay footage as well as the story that is being told throughout the game. According to the YouTube description, the story goes as follows, “Jan Dolski was a simple worker until a certain space mission program tempted him to take the risk of a lifetime. Or rather, many lifetimes. When the mission goes awry, he and the players will soon discover that survival depends on creating alternate versions of Jan. These versions are identical in form, share some memories, but possess different skills and emotions. And in this fight for survival, the survival have never been more personal. ”

Players will be able to explore the other cast of characters as well as the survival action elements. The main character, Jan Dolski, created many alternate versions of himself using a substance called Rapidium to escape a hostile planet, along with tackling personal traumas throughout the story with the many versions of himself.

The Alters has many features such as players will be able to craft items and build a base, gather resources to escape the deadly sun, survive on a hostile planet, and create new Alters and manage their needs by using a quantum computer- all of this is according to the description on the Steam page.

With creating these Alters, each of them come with their own unique set of skills and abilities to help the main character survive- and they offer both new opportunities and challenges to navigate through personal struggle. Players will be able to explore the hostile planet that has a variety of biomes and secrets to collect metals and organics to survive, but it comes with the risk of encountering anomalies and the sun.

The resources that players gather will be able to help them in many ways, like creating their main base or additional modules like a Research Lab or Social Room. Players will sometimes have to create items for the Alters to push the mission forward.
