The 2017 Steam Winter Sale Has Begun

It’s that time of year again over on Steam. The 2017 Winter Sale is now live, with deals spanning the majority of the Steam catalog, with deals up to 95% off. As per tradition, there is also an event within the Steam client that also doubles as Steam’s community-driven Steam Game Awards. The list of games on is much too great to cover, but there are quite a few games that might be worthwhile to pickup.

The Steam event has gamers coming back each day to vote on a set list of games for a category that were decided beforehand. Each vote will earn individuals a Steam trading card, regardless of their vote, and when the complete card set is collected, they can be used to craft event-exclusive Steam emotes, badges, and profile background. Categories will change each day, and on January 3rd, the total votes will be tallied, and the winners will be displayed for all to see. The categories are as follows:

  • December 21st – Choices Matter
  • December 22nd – Mom’s Spaghetti
  • December 23rd – Labor of Love
  • December 24th – Suspension of Disbelief
  • December 25th – The World Is Grim Enough Let’s Just Get Along
  • December 26th – No Apologies
  • December 27th – Defies Description
  • December 28th – Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Dogs Of War
  • December 29th – Haunts My Dreams
  • December 30th – Soul Of Vitruvius
  • December 31st – Whoooaaaaaaa, Dude! 2.0
  • January 1st – Best Soundtrack
  • January 2nd – Even Better Than I Expected

In addition, some of the winners of the Video Game Awards 2017 are also on sale for PC, so now is the perfect time to catch up on the best that 2017 had to offer. Cuphead, winner of Best Art Direction, Best Independent Game, and Best Debut Indie Game, is currently available for $16.99. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, winner of Best Audio Design, Best Performance by Melina Juergens, and Games for Impact is on sale for $22.49. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, winner of Best Action Game, is now only $29.99. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, winner of Best VR/AR Game, is now $23.99.

In addition, most of the most popular games on steam have also gone up on sale. GTAV, Dark Souls III, Divinity: Original Sin 2, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GotY Edition, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, and Counter-Strike: Global Offense have reduced prices that are anywhere from 10% to 75% off.

The Steam winter sale lasts from today all the way through to January 4th at 10AM PST, and all sale prices will stay the same throughout the sale. Brace your wallets, and happy spending!
