In celebration of the recent release of the Tetris film on Apple TV+, Enhance Studios the developer behind Tetris Effect: Connected, has unlocked the two secret levels for everyone to have access to and play now in Tetris Effect. These two secret modes, respectively titled 1984 and 1989 were only available if you put in a specific code.
The 1984 mode is straight from the original game played on the Electronika 60 that Alexey Pajinov the game’s creator used. It’s pretty similar in style to the Soviet era system, with the Russian language developed in, the keyboard sounds of the machine, and the green display coloring of the 80s computer. The less secret mode, 1989 was designed after the iconic Nintendo Game Boy title, it also uses remastered sounds from the device. There’s a background of Saint Basil’s Cathedral in pixelated form which look stunning in-game.
The two modes are only exclusively unlocked for a limited time, it’s unclear when they’ll be removed but it’ll be a welcome addition to this completely unaware of the levels existing.
The Tetris film released exclusively on Apple TV+ on March 31st and follows the origin story of the title from its Soviet-era roots and licensing the game so those globally could enjoy the now widely considered best game of all time.
