A couple of days ago, Telltale Games revealed a ton of information on their upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy game, including the release date of April 18 for the first episode of the game. Today, we were given the first official trailer, which Telltale shared on their various social media accounts.
It’s good to see that the game will keep the sense of humor exhibited in the Guardians of the Galaxy comics and movie, such as Drax’s inability to understand anything other than direct, literal speech and Groot’s always well-placed inclusions of “I am Groot.” It looks like there will be plenty of good action sequences too. This trailer, as well as some pictures that were released earlier this week, confirm that the villain Thanos will be a big part of the game, acting as the main antagonist for at least the first episode.
Telltale confirmed at PAX EAST earlier this month that they have gotten rights for several 70s songs to use for the game’s soundtrack. This is evident in the trailer’s use of the song “Can the Can” by Suzi Quatro, as well as the fact that the title of the first episode is named after the Bob Dylan song “Tangled Up in Blue,” though it is unclear as of now whether the song will actually be in the game.
“Tangled Up in Blue” will be the first episode of five in the series. Also during PAX EAST, a representative from Marvel who has been collaborating with Telltale stated that it is not just coincidence that there are five episodes in the series and five members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Does this mean that a different Guardian will be playable in each episode? Only time will tell.
The first episode will be available on April 18 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Android and iOS mobile devices and will cost $4.99. It is available for pre-order now. You can watch the trailer below.
