Telltale Games, the company behind the critically acclaimed The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, has been teasing their highly anticipated adaptation of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy for some time now. Telltale discussed the game at length at this year’s PAX EAST and even had a playtest of the first episode at SXSW, but now we finally have a release date. Today, Telltale announced that the first episode of Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on April 18.
This first episode will be called “Tangled Up in Blue,” likely a reference to the Bob Dylan song of the same name, and will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and iOS and Android mobile devices. The first episode will cost $4.99 and if I know anything about the Telltale formula by now, I’d be willing to bet that each subsequent episode will also cost $4.99 as well and the season pass will be $14.99 after purchasing the first episode, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Right now, you can pre-order the season pass for the PlayStation 4, which costs $19.99, or $15.99 for PS Plus members, and grants you access to all five episodes upon each of their releases. Pre-ordering this way also gives you an exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy theme for your PlayStation 4 that features Star-Lord’s cassette player floating in space. Footage of this theme can be found in the video below.
Physical discs for the game that include season passes will be available at retailers starting May 2 in North America and May 5 globally. A trailer for the first episode will be unveiled this Thursday, March 30, at 9:00AM PST.
