Tekken 7 Celebrates Its One Year Anniversary With Free DLC

When Tekken 7 released last year, it was a highly acclaimed fighting game that was nominated for numerous awards.  Now with the one year anniversary approaching, Bandai Namco has decided to celebrate by unleashing wave of brand new DLC.  And the best part about this?  Its all free.

The game’s director, Katsuhiro Harada, tweeted out the specifics:

Their is a lot to take in with that picture.  So here’s a rundown of everything we can expect from the DLC:

Story Mode Costume Set: Blood Vengeance Outfit, Final Battle Outfit, The Evil Eye, and Vagabond.

Aura Set: Arm Aura and Leg Aura.

Female Hairstyle Set: Wave Ponytail and Bob Hairstyle.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling Set: T-shirt (Bullet Club X Heihachi), T-shirt (Kazuchida Okada X King), T-shirt (Kenny Omega X Bryan), Hiroshi Tanahashi X Lars Costume health gauge panel and plate.

Kuma and Panda Set: Assorted Costumes for Both Characters.

Metallic Item Set (Silver): Assorted Silver Accessory Items for characters.

Tekken 7 has already recieved a plethora of paid DLC.  This includes the ever popular (and my personal favorite) Ultimate Tekken Bowling mini game, which is a reiteration of past bowling games in the Tekken series.  The game also received Fatal Fury’s Geese Howard, along with the fighting stage Howard Mansion, as well as Final Fantasy XV‘s main character, Noctis Lucis Caelum and the accompanying stage Hammerhead.

Tekken 7 was first released in arcades across Japan in 2015.  It recieved an update in 2016 titled Fated Retribution which balanced out some of the characters while adding new ones.  Finally, it made its way to home consoles in Spring 2017 where it introduced even more characters and updates.  The game’s story involves the Mishima Family and was marketed as the “Finale” of their drama.  Whether it lived up to that promise remains ambiguous, but the amount of content outside of the story mode cannot be understated.

The Tekken series has been a stalwart of the fighting game genre since the 1990s.  And with each new entry, the developers always try and find ways to reinvent themselves while keeping the core gameplay intact.  Judging by the ever growing fanbase, it’s hard to argue that they didn’t succeed.

The Tekken 7 Anniversary DLC is slated to release world wide on May 31, 2018.
