The turn-based strategy role-playing game series, Tears to Tiara, is planned for its first North American and European release for its newest installment. Developed by Japan’s Aquaplus, Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord is marked for an exclusive Playstation 3 release Oct. 14 and Nov. 11 of this year for North America and Europe, respectively.
The game is published by the Sega subsidiary Atlus in North America, and NIS America for its Europe release. The original Japanese audio will remain in the non-Japanese releases, but localized subtitles will be provided.
Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord will not require players to have any prior experience with the previous entry or its side-story release to follow it, according to a press release. The game is centered around an indentured servant under a crippling regime. After seeing atrocity committed against a helpless innocent, the servant releases restraint of his demonic powers, under the counsel of a goddess, to overthrow the cruel empire and free the people held in slavery under it. He must do all this while controlling the demon inside that grants him power. Without proper control, he can destroy all of which he wishes to save.
The upcoming sequel contains more than 80 hours of strategy gameplay and an enriched story in the style of a visual novel. The series also has a three-volume manga series: Tears to Tiara: Garland of the Earth. It also has an anime show that will be available with an English dub on DVD and Blu-ray in North America Oct. 19, five days after the region’s PS3 game release.
Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord features more than 15 diverse main characters, all striving united towards the goal of liberation. Several allies, such as giant creatures and gods, assist players in battle. The game mechanics of joint attacks, consecutive strikes, and boost magic, create a new layer of gameplay to spice up combat. According to the release, the gameplay will challenge even the most experienced SRPG enthusiasts.
In addition to the announcement, an opening movie for the upcoming game has been released, and can be found below. The official website for the game can be viewed here. The North American release is priced at $39.99, while the European pricing has yet to be set.
