Valve has launched the new Summer 2024 update for their free-to-play shooter Team Fortress 2, featuring new maps, cosmetic items, a seasonal event, and a long list of bug fixes and balances. The release of the new Team Fortress 2 update comes after a recent surge in negative player reviews for the game on Steam, citing rampant bots and hacking in the game’s PvP multiplayer. The game now boasts a “Mostly Positive” average review score on Steam, with user reviews celebrating the crackdown on bots. The new update is available beginning immediately for all TF2 players on Steam.
The Summer 2024 event features several new maps designed by community members, as well as a plethora of new community-contributed cosmetic items. The Summer 2024 event began on July 18 and will last until September 15, giving players two months to participate in the festivities. The full list of Summer 2024 content from the patch notes can be found here:

The new update also brings dozens of bug fixes and balance changes, including “security and stability improvements”. Two maps, Enclosure and Cashworks, have big given major overhauls, with the former adding multiple staircases, cover points, doorways, and landmarks, and the latter focusing on balancing the opposing sides with space and visibility changes.
Other changes include some Christmas-themed maps being added to normal rotation, new tournament medal additions, and plenty of general bug fixes. The full patch notes for the new Team Fortress 2 Summer 2024 update can be found on the game’s Steam page here.
