The sleeper hit Hi-Fi RUSH has hit a 3 million player worldwide milestone according to its Japanese developer Tango Gameworks. The announcement was made on Tango Gameworks’ official Twitter account late Wednesday morning, where the developer thanked its fans for their support.
“The total number of players of Hi-Fi Rush as exceeded 3 million!” wrote Tango Gameworks. “From all of us at Tango Gameworks, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
Hi-Fi RUSH is a hack-and-slash rhythm-action game where players take the role of the self-proclaimed “wannabe rockstar” Chai and various other colorful companions as they face off against an evil mega-corporation using rhythm-based combat. Players must sync their movements to the music as they fight their way through departments themed after a musical genre and face off against bosses in style.
The title was initially shadow-dropped on the Xbox Game Pass in January 2023, but quickly garnered wide amount of acclaim and praise from fans, mainly due to it being a simple and fun single-player experience. While the title was a far cry from Tango Gamework’s other known works, such as the gritty and horror-filled The Evil Within franchise, its huge reception showcased that Tango Gameworks had the skill to work in wildly different genres. Despite not being able to live up to Microsoft’s commercial expectations, Hi-Fi RUSH maintains beloved by fans, showcased by its 10/10 rating on Steam.
Hi-Fi RUSH is available on Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Epic Game Store and Steam, including the Steam Deck.
