Tales of Symphonia Remastered Launches February 2023

At last, Bandai Namco has revealed a release date for the highly anticipated Tales of Symphonia Remastered. The title will officially launch on February 17, 2023, with its native Japan getting it just one day earlier on February 16. The game is set to release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Because of the two former system’s backwards compatability, this also means that it will be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/Series S. The game is as enhanced version on the 2003 JRPG classic, and will come with most of the usual bells and whistles such as “visual enhancements, gameplay improvements and new features.”

Bandai Namco also celebrated the announcement with a brand new trailer. The video shows the main characters of Tales of Symphonia, Lloyd Irving and his friend Colette Brunel, in various anime cutscenes before it transitions to the classic in-game graphics that we all know and love. We then see the game’s trademark battle mechanic, the Multi-Line Linear Motion Battle System, which has the player takes command of a singular unit and gives commands to the rest of the party. The trailer ends with a brief look at The Chosen Edition, a collectors edition that houses the base game, a metal case, some art prints, and a set of stickers.

As we already mentioned, Tales of Symphonia originally released in 2003 for the Nintendo Gamecube. It was later ported to the PlayStation 3 and PC in 2014 and 2016 respectively with little to no changes. The game was a massive success and is often considered one of the best Gamecube titles of all time, as well as one of the best JRPG titles ever. It was also a bit ahead of its time as players could play co-op with up to four people in each part for the entire playthrough. The Remastered edition was initially revealed during the Nintendo Direct just a couple of months ago.

Tales of Symphonia Remastered will launch for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, and the Nintendo Switch.
