Tales from the Borderlands Returns to Storefronts Next Week

For those hoping for a grand return of some of Telltale Game’s IPs, we have some excellent news for you. Gearbox has officially announced that their point and click story spin-off title, Tales from the Borderlands, will be making its return to all storefronts next week on February 17. The game was delisted following the abrupt closure of Telltale Games back in Fall 2018, as were a number of their IPs, but it looks like Gearbox was able to salvage the title and make it readily available to everybody once again.

In case you weren’t aware, Tales from the Borderlands is a spin-off of the main Borderlands franchise that Gearbox develops. Created by Telltale Games and launched initially in Fall 2014, the game’s narrative is told through five separate episodes and is told through two main protagonists as opposed to one. The story takes place between Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3, serving as an in-between for both titles. Tales from the Borderlands was critically acclaimed upon completion of all episodes and is considered one of the better IPs that Telltale Games was able to work with.

The story of the ill-fated Telltale Games has been well documented by this point. At one time, they were considered the gold standard of the video game industry, as one of their titles, The Walking Dead, not only garnered critical acclaim but also won numerous Game of the Year Awards in 2012. Unfortunately, the company took on a few too many projects and at some point began to hemorrhage money, leading it the announcement of its liquidation.

Soon after that, nearly all of their titles were delisted from storefronts, including the aforementioned Tales from the Borderlands. At this time, most of their titles are available to buy and download again. On top of that, LCG Entertainment announced back in Summer 2019 that they would be reviving Telltale Games. We got first glimpse of what they were working on during The Game Awards 2019 when they announced The Wolf Among Us 2. Now that Tales from the Borderlands is back, hopefully, we’ll see some more of their IPs revived in some capacity.
