Tale of Bistun has officially been announced for release on July 13. The game’s developer Black Cube Games, along with publisher IMGN.PRO, have confirmed the official release date for the long awaited game.
Lead animator for Black Cube Games discussed Tale of Bistun and said that “As a studio composed of Iranian game developers, we are eager to share a piece of our history and culture with gamers through The Tale of Bistun,” He continued by saying “Many of us grew up with this classic story and the desire to adapt it into a video game comes straight from our hearts.”
The game is inspired by Persian mythology and the 12th-century poem “Khosrow and Shirin”. In the game, players control a young stone carver who wakes up on Mount Bistun with no memory of his past. After waking up, players will discover that a blight is devouring Mount Bistun.
To save the mountain, the stone carver must travel between the real world and the Revelations Realm. The Revelations Realm is a mysterious realm filled with forgotten memories that could hold the key to victory.
Although the game just received an official release date, there has been a gameplay trailer released since November of 2021.
