After the preview for Takeda Takahashi as well as a short summary of some of the things we can expect in season 2, we now have a full trailer for the final character of Mortal Kombat 1’s first season of DLC.
Garnering a whopping 1 million views in under a day, it looks like fans are really looking forward to Takeda’s return as the character, arguably the main character of Mortal Kombat X’s highly rated comic book, hasn’t been seen since Mortal Kombat X itself. It’s looking like Takeda is bringing a lot of his classic moves from Mortal Kombat X back, his signature spike whips integrated into his ninja suit being the main attraction, but there are a few other familiar features in his kit as well, such as the exploding kunai and the teleport.
But despite all the Mortal Kombat X references, this isn’t Takeda from Mortal Kombat X. As reported by Eurogamer Takeda in this timeline is no longer Kenshi’s abandoned son, but rather Kenshi’s cousin who lived a life of crime among the yakuza. Failing a mission and being captured, Kenshi thought it best that Takeda be adopted into the newly formed Shirai Ryu, and that’s Takeda’s story for Mortal Kombat 1’s timeline. No doubt this story will feature in the story expansions coming for Mortal Kombat 1 in the future.
But Takeda isn’t the only star of this trailer, we also see some of the gameplay changes alluded to a few days ago to the Kameo characters. As shown in this trailer Frost creates a wall of ice behind her opponent, creating a pseudo corner for a few seconds, a scary scary situation in any fighting game and one that will undoubtedly excite Frost players. Alongside her, Cyrax is also shown to have a new assist, that being one of his signature unblockable bombs that he’ll drop where he’s called.
Takeda looks like a fun character, and a fan favorite people have been clamoring for for a good while. All in all, a good way to round off season 1 of Mortal Kombat 1’s DLC. Takeda will be available on July 23rd.
