In an investor meeting on November 29, Take-Two President Karl Slatoff discussed how Take-Two was talking about their approach to supporting the Nintendo Switch system. Slatoff didn’t go into detail about the potential partnership between the developer giant and the new console, he did say that he was optimistic about the Nintendo Switch’s potential. However, he did say the potential partnership between the two entities would be based on how many Nintendo Switch consoles are sold.
“With any new hardware, there is an element of ‘wait and see,’ and the install base is going to drive a lot [of support by Take-Two],” Slatoff said. “We’re very intrigued and excited about it. The Nintendo folks are making a great effort to reach out to third-party developers, which I think is fantastic.”
Dozens of developers have said that they will partner with the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo said during the console’s reveal event last October. The reveal video showed some footage of an NBA 2K game, even though 2K hasn’t confirmed that they will be releasing an NBA 2K game for the Nintendo Switch. The reveal video also showed footage of Skyrim, which Bethesda has also said they haven’t confirmed that Skyrim will be on the Nintendo Switch.
While Take-Two’s plans for its potential partnership with the Nintendo Switch isn’t confirmed nor denied, Slatoff reiterated that he is optimistic that partnership could happen.
“I would say that we are very optimistic and they’re good partners,” Slatoff said. “We’re excited to work with them in the future.”
Other developers that have previously announced that they will be partnering with the Nintendo Switch are Electronic Arts, who are supposedly bringing a “big title” to the console, Activision, Bethesda, Capcom and Ubisoft.
The Nintendo Switch will be on sale in March 2017. More official details about the Switch will be released in January 2017.
