Dishonored 2 Director Reacts to PC Issues

Even though Dishonored 2 received great reviews, it had a major issue: it didn’t work well on PC. Most of the serious issues were fixed with the newest patches, all of which combined to fix over 100 problems according to director Harvey Smith.

Smith went more in-depth about the struggles that the PC version faced in an interview with Glixel, despite doing “extensive” testing before releasing Dishonored 2.

“There were certain combinations of things that we just didn’t expect, despite extensively testing the game; very high-end CPUs with low-end GPUs, and older drivers, things like that,” Smith said. “I’m a PC gamer. There is nothing like running on a super high-end PC. But it’s also the most varied platform to support. It’s way, way more complicated than consoles.”

Some of Dishonored 2‘s issues came from problems with low or unstable framerates to blurry graphics to mouse sensitivity issues.

In the same Glixel interview, Smith was asked if Dishonored 2’s Meagan Foster would be playable character. Smith didn’t confirm nor deny anything but did say that she would be a very popular character.

“In terms of representation, a number of people have told me ‘I’m so happy you have character who is lesbian or bi’; more accurately bi, I think, but mostly lesbian,” Smith said. “And just a character who is a person of color. It’s very meaningful that people can look into games and see characters in leadership positions who are handled well, who are interesting people first and foremost.”

Bethesda has recently announced that Dishonored 2 will receive a content update next month that will give players an opportunity to play a New Game + mode called Play Your Way. The mode will have custom Difficulty settings. You can read more about the new New Game + mode in a story that I previously wrote, which can be read here.

I'm a big Pokémon fan, so I'l spend a lot of my time playing that. Other than that, I love sports, particularly the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers. No matter how bad the team is, I will always rep them.
