Survival RPG Outward Set for Late March Release

Deep Silver is continuing the studio’s trend of creating survival games, as they are teaming up with Nine Dots Studio for the next project, Outward. This role-playing survival title is set to launch this March and will encompass challenging survival themes alongside a fantasy setting. In the world of Aurai, players will be able to enter this strange new land solo or cooperatively with a friend, whether that be online or split screen. The latest official trailer for Outward below shows more about what will be encountered:

Players’ characters will not be some special, selected, or powerful person to start off and must instead rely on survival instincts. To thrive and progress players will have to fight “against threatening creatures, but also brave the hazardous environmental conditions” as well as stay healthy by protecting against infections, diseases, dehydration, and getting enough sleep. Setting up camp around a fire and tent while also scavenging enough supplies and hunting to eat or to trade will be vital to reaching lands even farther away. All of these elements will be ever present as adventurers explore hidden dungeons, untamed lands, and enormous cities.

Typical fantasy themed weapons will be available, such as swords and bows, but magic and spellcasting will have a slower and “step-by-step” approach. The developers even admit that magical abilities will not be simple to pull off, though when successfully cast can turn the tide heavily in the player’s favor.  The entire game is blunt in stating upfront that it will not be provide much of a “safety net” to players. Actions are constantly saved and consequences are implemented on a worldwide scale so that character decisions feel more significant. Outward should be an interesting mix of gameplay and in just about two months, potential players will be able to see Deep Silver trying their hand in a fantasy scene instead of a first-person zombie title.

Outward will be releasing on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam Store March 26.
