In only two days, the fighting platformer Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be celebrating its first birthday. In celebration of its birthday, Nintendo is releasing a special event making all rewards earned in Spirit Board fights increase by three times. This bonus will even affect the player’s EXP and SP rewards allowing players to level up their spirits three times faster than normal. Nintendo posted this event on Twitter explaining that the event would last from December 6th-December 8th, after which the rates will return to their normal level.
For 3 days, starting on 12/6, this event celebrates the 1-year anniversary of the release of Super #SmashBrosUltimate! During this event, EXP and SP you earn after battle will be tripled, and you’ll get the Damage 50% item! pic.twitter.com/TM7FDf9yoJ

This isn’t the first time that Nintendo has released a triple reward event, but it is the first time it has done so for a celebration and as a present to all the players, the event will also feature a Damage 50% item, which curse all of the players opponents to start with 50% damage at the beginning of a fight. However, this event does mean that players will no longer be able to find their favorite Resident Evil characters in the Spirit Board. Fans of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate travelling to Japan may be happy to hear that the game will be the main feature at Japan’s EVO 2020 which will be happening this January from the 24th to the 26th. Players unable to travel to Japan may be happy to hear that Genesis 7 will be occurring at the same time as Japan’s EVO 2020 in Oakland, California at the Paramount Theatre on Broadway. There is currently no new information regarding new characters in the game but it is likely that more information will be revealed at a later date.
