For all the Super Mario and Kirby fans, things just took an unexpected turn. Nintendo has just released two Nintendo Entertainment System titles coming to Nintendo Switch Online this month. This month starting on February 13, players can download Super Mario Bros. 2 and Kirby’s Adventure, starring two of the major characters of some of Nintendo’s most iconic games.
For the first few months of the service, Nintendo seemed to be putting out a pattern of three games a month in the Japan region, and two games for the other regions. During this period of time, Nintendo has also been recognized highly for such craftsmanship and speedy distribution of their monthly game content. It is a stark contrast from when the number of Nintendo’s regional releases for the Wii Virtual Console came months later or not at all for the America audience.
One thing Super Mario Bros. 2 players would not know is that it was once a licensed platform named Doki Doki Panic. Fearing the American fans would have a hard time playing the game, they reshaped Doki Doki Panic into a Mario sequel. Although many players thought of it to be an odd turn of events, they continued to play it. Fans called this release either Super Mario USA or referred to the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 as lost levels, based on its name in Super Mario All-Stars, to avoid confusion.
Kirby’s Adventure is considered the game that launched the series. It was in this game that Kirby first has an enemy absorption mechanic to help aid him during his journey. Throughout this story Kirby has to venture out and reacquire broken pieces of the Dream Rod King DeDeDe has destroyed.
Super Mario Bros. 2 and Kirby’s Adventure have joined us now on Twitter for the big announcement. These two fun and action packed games will be available February 13 as part of the Switch paid online service, so you definitely don’t want to sit this adventure out.
