The tragic tale of Telltale Games is one to be remembered. If you were a fan of story based games in the 2010s, Telltale was one of best out there. Unfortunately, things took a turn and we lost them. However, at their peak we got some incredible titles, and one of which is coming back with The Wolf Among Us Remastered. This coincides with the announcement that The Wolf Among Us 2 is finally coming next year after first being announced eight years ago.
At Summer Games Fest this year, we got to go hands on with The Wolf Among Us Remastered to see all the improvements that have been brought to the 2013 episodic murder mystery. We got to play the opening half hour of Episode One of the game, and the game looked and felt like the way we remember, but not really what it looked like thirteen years ago. For fans of the original, the same gritty film noir tone is still there, and, while the graphical fidelity has been improved, the game itself hasn’t lost its color palette which made it so unique even amongst Telltale games of the time. This is still the 2013 game just improved, so don’t go in expecting a full update to what the final season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead was like in terms of gameplay improvements.
The most noticeable improvements to the game are the environmental designs. The environments have much detail in them instead of just being flat and plain walls or floors. While the character designs are also improved, the eyes look a bit over extenuated at times and the models sometimes look a bit flat. However, the overall improvement in the character details outshine these minor issues.
The Wolf Among Us Remastered is set to release this holiday on all platforms.
