Summer Game Fest: Turok: Origins Preview: Taking Down Dinos and Aliens with Your Friends

As I said in a different preview the other day, we all know someone who loves dinosaurs. Now, how about the people who want dinosaurs eliminated and glad they’re gone for real? Well, Turok: Origins is for you. Plus, you get to kill loads of aliens too! At Summer Game Fest, we got to go hands on with the newest entry in the franchise. Honestly, wiping out hordes of dinosaurs and aliens with your friends is a lot of fun.

Turok: Origins can be played by yourself or with up to two other players. After experiencing it in both cases, the game is far more enjoyable when playing with your friends. The multiplayer demo we got to go hands on with had us traversing to two different planets with a few different goals in mind. On the first planet we had to destroy shield generators that the alien threat were using and it culminated in a boss fight against a mecha T-Rex. This was loads of fun to take on a giant threat with the other two players as each character you can choose a a suite of different abilities and weapons to use to your advantage.

The second mission had us going through what looked like an ancient temple. Once we went through it we found another human who was pinned down by both aliens and dinosaurs to which we had to clear them all out. Upon nearing the end of this level, we encountered another boss, but this time an alien. This boss felt far more dangerous and more aggressive. This even resulted in a few of us getting knocked down a couple of times. However, we took it down in epic fashion as one player hit it with a glory kill type move to take it out.

Overall,  Turok: Origins looks to be a fun multiplayer romp for people. As what will be the first game in the franchise in nearly a decade, it is good to have the dinosaur hunters back. Turok: Origins is set to release at some point later this year.
