Summer Game Fest 2023: Palworld Reveal Trailer

In this year’s Summer Game Fest, Pocket Pair released their reveal trailer for their upcoming game Palworld. Palworld appears to be a game akin to Pokémon, where players will catch and battle with this game’s creatures to level up and defeat bosses throughout the world. The primary difference between these two franchises however, is that Palworld allows the player to join in the battle, with the help of a variety of guns and rockets.

Although the trailer was very short, clocking in at just under a minute, there was a large amount of information revealed about the game in the trailer. There were multiple modes of travel based on which creature the player was riding. Additionally, as mentioned before, guns play a major role in the game, as not only are the players given access to these guns, but so are the creatures the player battles with.

We also see creatures being caught in blue orbs, which seem like the game’s equivalent to pokeballs, and the player running through a seemingly open world where creatures span all over.

Any story elements for the game are only lightly alluded to through the reveal of a few additional characters, but this trailer seems to just be giving an idea of what is to come, and providing a strong first impression combining the idea of Pokémon-style creatures, with third person shooting action.

Palworld does not seem to have an official release date yet, however the trailer does end off by announcing that the game will be open to early access in January 2024, so fans can look forward to getting an idea of what the game has in store for them then.
