Stunlock Studios’ Battlerite Launches Free-To-Play On Steam

Stunlock Studios has officially released Battlerite as free-to-play on Steam, after being in early access until now. It’s described as “an action-packed team arena brawler,” with tons of features, classes, attacks, challenges and more to offer while playing.

Battlerite is a “top-down shooter meeting a fast-paced fighting game and take part in highly competitive, adrenaline-fueled 2v2 and 3v3 battles,” similar to League of Legends top-down playstyle. However, unlike League where players must travel a certain distance to reach the enemy, in Battlerite’s arena fighting players will have to act fast and work in more restricted spaces while fighting their opponents head on at all times. Movement occurs using locked WASD keys and players use attacks by aiming the cursor at the opponent and pressing a corresponding key to assigned to the attack. Using certain skills causes a brief slow-motion and cinematic close-up to occur on screen, making the battles feel even more dynamic. The announcement trailer gives players a look into the arenas where these battles take place, with some located in city coliseums while others are located in places resembling ruins and forests.

Players will control a Champion in their 2v2 or 3v3 battles, and each Champion has their own unique sets of abilities to use during battle. Players who want their champions to look good while they fight will be able to customize weapons, outfits, and victory stances to their liking. Battlerite Lite owners and those who had early access to the game will receive “the Classic Gunslinger Jade outfit with two additional color variations,” and Black Steed mount as rewards for their help during the game’s developmental stages. Anyone can get immediate access to all current and future champions through buying the Champion Pack for $29.99, and the list of Champions can be found on Battlerite’s official website. The list includes a brief description of who the Champions are and slight insights into their fighting style. Champions range in all shapes and sizes with some appearing more human and others appearing to be fantasy creatures or monsters unique to the game.

Battlerite is currently available on PC via Steam and is free-to-play.
