Street Fighter V’s Laura Gets An Official Introduction

Last week, Street Fighter V‘s newest character, Laura, was leaked unintentionally via a Japanese publication. While whether or not the leak hastened the official release is unclear, an official reveal trailer has been released by Capcom via the official Street Fighter YouTube channel.

If you didn’t see the previous coverage, Laura was leaked by a Japanese publication when they intended to reveal only Zangief with the consent of Capcom. Unfortunately, however, a gallery of screenshots featuring Laura in action versus Ryu, signature character of the series. Laura is a Brazilian fighter whose style focuses on kicks, grappling, and submission moves, sprinkled with a command of lightning itself. Like most other Street fighters, Laura’s mastery of her respective martial art has granted her an ability to manipulate the world around her in a way that augments and benefits her fighting style.

Laura sports a green, two-piece jumpsuit, with a top just as modest as any Street Fighter fan might expect. Half her hair is bound in skin-tight braids while the other half flows freely. Her ethnicity, if not hinted at strongly enough by the yellow and green she sports, is distinctly Brazilian, representing yet another new region of the world in Street Fighter‘s ever-growing roster of represented cultures.

For those interested, a beta test is coming to PC starting October 22nd and ending October 25th. Whether or not that beta test will include Laura and the other recently announced character, Zangief, remains unclear, however. Those unsure can likely be confident that all the characters announced up to this point will need to be tested, and it is very likely that they will be playable in the beta version.

Once more, the PC beta test of Street Fighter V will begin October 22nd and end the 25th. Head on over to the official Street Fighter V website for more details.
