Stray Souls, an Unreal Engine 5 Horror Title, Has Been Announced

Jukai Studio has officially revealed what they’ve been working on for quite some time. The developer unveiled their brand new IP, Stray Soulsa third-person horror title that takes a lot of inspiration from some of the all-time classics. The game will be a combination of exploration and action as the players will attempt to discover the truth about the main protagonist’s unique inheritance situation. In addition, Jukai also announced that they have partnered up with indie publisher Versus/Evil in order to deliver the title on a wide range basis.

Along with this announcement was a reveal trailer, and to say that it’s terrifying is an understatement. The trailer is narrated by the main character, Daniel, who states that he was left a house by his grandmother. This would normally be a huge win for the beneficiary, but as we see in the trailer it quickly turns into a nightmare scenario for the player. The game shows Daniel utilizing a pistol with the standard over-the-shoulder third-person shooter mechanics that have become the norm in most horror titles through the years. These features were more than likely influenced by Resident Evil and Silent Hill, as well as the horror aspects.

We then see several enemies in the shape of horrifying monsters. The trailer ends with Daniel meeting an extremely scary-looking figure with long white hair and a smile that we will not be able to get out of our nightmares any time soon. Just from this initial reveal, we can see clearly that this project is a labor of love from the developer who seems to have taken several different queues of classic suspense and horror styles. It’s scary, intense, and it leaves us wanting to see even more. The game is currently in development for both PC and home consoles and is slated to release sometime this Fall. You can currently wishlist the game on Steam here.
