Developer KITE Games and publisher Kalypso Media have released an all new announcement trailer confirming the platforms and release window for their real-time tactics title Sudden Strike 5. Sources at Gematsu confirm that the title is set for launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime next year.
Sudden Strike 5 is set on the front lines of World War II, in historical scenarios across war-torn Europe and North Africa. Players will assume the role of a commander overseeing military forces from the Western Allies, German, and Soviet troops with the goal of completing mission objectives across battlefields, capturing locations, and destroying enemy assets.
Sudden Strike 5 features 25 missions across maps with 300 authentic playable units, 190 vehicles and 110 infantry units as indicated in the title’s press release “the highest unit counts ever seen in the series.” Players will seize and defend locations, including Field HQ’s, Supply Depots, and Train Stations while using recon, sabotage, and alternative routing. Players can choose commanders with varying strengths in offense, defense, or tactically suited with unique abilities like smoke grenade coverage or accuracy for artillery. Sudden Strike 5 features extended camera options for strategic oversight or to zoom into the battlefield. Players can battle against one another or AI enemies across multiple difficulty levels, including player-versus-player challenges.
Developer KITE Games aim for Sudden Strike 5 to deliver the most “epic large-scale tactical warfare experience in the series to date.” The team may well achieve this by immersing players in countless battles across the globe, with their historical units and factions. With the depth of mechanics on display and freedom in customization for the commander KITE Games may have found solid footing. With the title purported to release next year, we may have another solid title to excite fans of tactics titles.
