Just today, developer Storm in a Teacup and publisher ESDigital have released a new release date trailer for their new game called Steel Seed. Steel Seed is set to release on April 10th of this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and on PC through Steam. Currently, players who are interested can download a demo version of the game where players can experience playing as Zoe, a young woman who wakes up in an unfamiliar body and an unfamiliar complex.
The trailer shows the science fiction like world as well as the gameplay that players can expect to see when the game officially releases. Throughout the trailer, the narrator questions the main protagonist on why she’s fighting and argues that fighting is meaningless in this world. Despite what he says, Zoe, the main protagonist, continues to get up and fight.
As the Steam page describes, “Steel Seed — a gripping action-adventure game from the visionary team behind the critically acclaimed Close to the Sun, set in a dark sci-fi world where humanity stands on the brink of extinction. Join protagonist Zoe and her flying drone companion, KOBY, as they investigate the depths of a hostile underground facility in search of answers and the key to the survival of mankind.”
Also according to the Steam page, there has been a catastrophic event that rendered Earth uninhabitable, and machines took control of the remnants of humanity’s survival. The underground complex is built and designed for machines and not for humans, and each region that the players will explore have their own unique environmental storytelling and secrets.
There will be key features to the gameplay that like stealth and strategy, where Zoe can sneak through the shadows to take down enemies. There will also be dynamic combat where players will face off a variety of enemies and bosses, and players will be able to upgrade their abilities in three different skill trees that will feature 40 different upgrades.
